Just a mile or two inland from the beach are pine forests and the lake which offers a range of other water activities away from the beach including kayaking , fishing , wind surfing , and swimming. The forest is part of the largest cultivated forest area in Europe, with great walking and nature trails to explore
There are various stables in and around Mimizan, offering horse riding opportunities for all standards - including rides on the beach and through the forest.

Mimizan has a municipal Golf course (newly extended to 9 holes - played as 9 or 18) . For a larger golf course the excellent Moliets Golf Club is about an hour away by car.
Mimizan has a Tennis club with both asphalt and all-weather courts which can be booked by visitors (or just turn up and play) .
There are also miles of cycle paths connecting Mimizan Plage and other villages. The paths are clearly marked and take you off the main roads and through forest trails. There are several bicycle hire shops around including two in Mimizan Plage.
Yes ! - even skiing is accessible from Mimizan within a 3 hours drive where resorts such as Cauterets and La Pierre-St-Martin can be reached
